JHSG Meet the Team

Executive Committee

We are very lucky to have a great team who work hard to make Jersey a great place for cardiac care.

Phil Volante

JHSG Chairman & Founder

Phil is the JHSG Chairman & an original Group founder since 06 June 2011. A qualified electronics engineer who was employed, for over 20 years, in the office equipment industry, now self-employed, running a local building, decorating and property maintenance company for the last 28 years.  Phil has been married to Anne for 45 years and they have three children and three grandchildren.

In his spare time, he enjoys walking the family cocker spaniel, a very possessive and hugely protective girl called Bella, cooking, DIY, low water fishing as well as many other widely varied activities. Phil enjoys television documentaries and factual books, watching a wide variety of sports, but especially rugby and Formula 1 racing.

Pamela le Clercq

JHSG Secretary

Pam, a widow, is a mother of two & has 6 beautiful grandchildren. She is a nurse (retired) of 38 years, & latterly worked 3 ½ years for St.Paul’s Church, where she is an active member.

Having travelled extensively, even after two heart attacks, she has been a member of the weekly JHSG cardiac exercise class, continuing to improve her physical strength, after two years doing so, but has now taken up employment, once more.   Pam is extremely grateful for the expertise of the local cardiac team at the General Hospital.

Michael Strong

Former Committee Member

Michael is our resident ‘defibrillator-man’ and former Committee member (2012-2018).  Now a very busy JHSG volunteer. Mike joined the Jersey Heart Support Group 3+ years after recovering from an aortic dissection, which occurred 11 months after retiring from a very active 42 year business life.

“After a life -threatening experience there’s a determination to regain strength and help others to work at cardiac recovery with rehabilitation exercise classes, which the JHSG charity provides for its members. The need to raise awareness in the community, and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, is an essential part of being a member and supporter of the charity.”  Mike’s active sports interests are lawn bowls, table tennis, cycling and travelling.

Richard Collinson

JHSG Committee Member

Richard was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England.  You may recognise the name around the island as a former teacher at Victoria College Prep and a radio presenter at BBC Radio Jersey for over 31 years,  specialising in sports commentary.

Richard joined JHSG in 2011 as he wanted to support a charity which he considers to be very worthwhile, and beneficial for the community.

Marcus Tampion

Treasurer

Marcus joined in February 2017 as honorary treasurer for JHSG.  Marcus wanted to volunteer his time for a local charity which plays an important role in the awareness and support of people living with heart disease.

Marcus is employed as an accounting manager within the Trust sector during the day and his interests include walking, gardening and cooking.

Mike Wright

JHSG Committee Member

Mike worked in the finance industry for a number of years.  He wanted to become involved with a heart support charity which could make a difference to the well-being of the local community.

In his spare time he likes gardening and cycling, and attempts to play golf and petanque.

Teresa Rolland
